The arrest resulted from an incident on Monday, Aug. 28 around 6:20 p.m., when Yorktown Police responded to a two-car crash on Saw Mill River Road in the area of Birdsall Drive, according to the department.

Arriving officers conducted an investigation into the collision and determined that the driver of one of the cars involved, 55-year-old Putnam County resident Christopher Conlan of Mahopac, had failed to yield the right of way when entering the road, police said.

Police also found out that Conlan was allegedly under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash, according to authorities.

Conlan was then arrested on a DWI charge and taken to Hudson Valley Hospital to receive treatment for injuries he suffered in the crash. After he was discharged, he was then taken to Yorktown Police headquarters for processing.

Conlan was later released on his own recognizance to a responsible adult and was scheduled to appear in Yorktown Justice Court on Thursday, Sept. 7.
